The OC will be back November 3rd! [Oct. 1st, 2005|04:48 pm]

[Current Mood |tired/busy]
[Current Music |forever young--youth group]

Sorry I haven't been too great with the updating. I'm swamped with school. Who knew this medical school thing would be so time consuming? What makes it just that much better though is that I have hospital clinic on Thursday morning, making the OC the light at the end of the tunnel of my day. Anyway, I have watched all the eps this season, and while they are a little lackluster in terms of huge jaw dropping events, it's pretty good in terms of making me want to beat up every single new character that has shown up. Beat 'em up like Jimmy was beat.

OC(D) Thoughts so far this season )

Who else thinks Josh Schwartz saw Napoleon Dynamite and had a major epiphany: "OMG, Alphaville's Forever Young? I must have someone cover that for my show!" And he did, and it was the song during the dance last night, covered by Youth Group.

Speaking of the music: here was thursday's music:

"Circles" by Bob Mould
"Fire Fire" by M.I.A.
"Ain't No Game" by Basko
"I Don't Want To Fall In Love" by She Wants Revenge
"Natural" (Radio Edit) by Infusion
"Triumphant" by Royksopp
"Forever Young" by Youth Group

The OC will be on hiatus until November 3 because of baseball. Now, I would usually curse baseball for interrupting my viewing, but since the Angels are the AL West winners this year, I'm actually not too bummed about it. GO ANGELS.

[Current Music |vivir sin aire--mana]

So that wasn't a bad way to start the season, was it? Most of the loose ends were tied up in regards to Trey, who had a fairly classy exit to Bloc Party. We have yet to find out about Caleb's will, Jimmy's intentions, Ryan/Marissa's future at Harbor, Kirsten's situation at rehab, etc, but they can only put so much in one episode.

Welcome back to the OC, bitch )

Music from The Aftermath:

"Beretta" by Manishevitz
"Hide Another Mistake" by The 88
"Song For No One" by Ian Broudie
"Way To Go" by Teen Wolf
"Blue Light" (Engineers "Anti-Gravity" Mix) by Bloc Party

Next week, The Shape of all things to come:
Jimmy sorts out his financial problems. Ryan and Marissa have a meeting with the Dean also to talk about their future at Harbor. Kirsten makes a big decision about her stay in rehab. The annual Harbor High carnival is upon us once again, but this time Summer and Marissa have a new competitor to contend with.

New OC Music Mix 5 CD coming out November 8. At this rate, we're definitely getting to OC Music Mix 157.

A promo photo of the cast )

The OC third season starts up tomorrow 8/7 C with an episode entitled, "The Aftermath." How foreboding. The second episode is entitled "The Shape of all things to come" and I appreciate that it sounds like the title of a Backstreet Boys song. All the loose ends from last season: the shooting, Kirsten's stay at rehab, Julie's financial status now that Cay-Cay is no longer with us--will be tied up. Of course there will be new characters to stir up some trouble, and we'll find out what's going to happen with Jimmy Cooper. And since the kids are seniors this year, they've got a lot to think about with college and graduation and such. I guess we'll see...

After the premiere of the OC, Amanda Righetti (Hailey on the OC) has a new Fox show, Reunion, about a group of friends that comes together after 20 years at a funeral of a close friend--that most likely one of them has killed--and it all takes place at a luxury hotel in Hawaii (oh wait, I'm getting that confused with another show). The show also stars the very hot Sean Faris (Life as We Know It) and Will Estes (American Dreams).

The entire OC cast is supposed to be on Ellen tomorrow, I think. Check your local listings. Happy OC watching!

So, I'm totally in one of those bitchy moods where I don't want to study, but yet I know I should. And to exacerbate the anger and bitterness, I just watched the newest episode of Laguna Beach and oh my god I hate Jason. Hate is an incredibly strong word, but I feel that it is completely warranted. He's a jackass.

Laguna Beach recap/rant )

Well, at least Casey wasn't in this episode too much.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

And I'm laughing out loud right now. This is the cast of LB at the MTV VMAs. I love that Reality Stars become "celebrities." Stephen looks pretty hot. Kristin looks too conservative for my taste, she should be slutting it up like a good OC girl. Jessica looks cute, but her darker hair makes her look like Alex M. Taylor's dress is cute. I still hate Casey and Jason and Cedric. But Casey's dress is very Paris Hilton-esque. I wonder if those two run into each other, will the universe implode? Alex H looks cute too. New ep tomorrow, it should be a doozy.

EDIT from rachel-bilson.com

The OC starts in like a week and a half, September 8th. The DVD set came out this past Tuesday, I got mine, but possibly will not have time to watch it until 2013.

Hello again--so there's lots of update, so I'll cut to the chase. All of the photos are from: rachel-bilson.com, rachelbilsonfan.com, mischa-web.com, and wireimage.com, so props to them.

Rachel is on the cover of Elle Magazine and Lucky Magazine, and she looks gorgeous on both (Elle mag cover photo is old though). Lucky has a really short article about a week in the wardrobe of Ms. Bilson, and the clothes are very cute.

ElleGirl )

Speaking of magazine covers, Mischa is on the cover of Cosmogirl this month.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Lots more pictures and I promise you will not be disappointed because everyone looks HOT, especially the moms )

And if any of you saw Dukes of Hazzard (and I'm not judging you if you have...well, maybe a little but only because Jessica Simpson desecrated that Nancy Sinatra song), you may have recognized a familiar face. Nikki Griffin, who played cokewhore Jess on the OC, was an ex of the Dukes in the movie, so congrats to her!

And a shoutout is due to Jen at www.the-oc.org News Reel because she still pimps my site even though I haven't updated in awhile . Thanks, Jen! Be sure to visit her frequently updated News Reel over at www.the-oc.org.

And with the dawn of a new season almost upon us, there's going to be more people moving to the OC this fall, but I won't spoil it for you...the surprise will be better this way. Just know that Josh is ready to throw some curveballs at us. He's like Bartolo Colon, that one. And speaking of, GO Orange County Anaheim Los Angeles ANGELS of California, or whatever they are calling themselves these days. That's my team, and they will prevail over Oakland.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Lastly, it's time for a Laguna Beach discussion. I don't have enough time to recount everything that's been going on in the show...well actually, I can in one word: nothing. But that's the beauty of this show--nothing happens, but we can't stop watching it. My friends and I watch it every week and have gotten others to follow suit. This is how MTV has managed to stay afloat without showing any music videos during hours when people are actually awake. This and My Super Sweet Sixteen, which premieres tomorrow. I. Cannot. Wait. for that. "We're in a $400,000 car!"

Laguna Beach Bums )

The OC Season 2 DVD comes out August 23, 2005. And the third season is only 33 days away. Until we meet again!

EDIT Congrats to Peter, who came in at #17 on VH1's 40 hottest over 40.

Well, now that we only have a little over a month until the OC starts up again (September 8), I suppose I should make an update.

Pictures of various cast members, past and present--and some of them are pretty old, so bear with me, I haven't had too much time to do a real update.

The OC, in pictures )

Adam's Interview magazine articles and scans + outtakes )

Also, Ben was on a recent episode of Punk'd, so I'm sure MTV will be replaying it until the sound of Ashton Kutcher's voice makes your ears bleed.

Laguna Beach (with the old favorites: Christina (who was no one's favorite, I can assure you), Lo, LC, STEEEE-VEN (spelled with a PH though), Trey, Talan, Kristin, etc home for break) premiered on Monday night, and from all accounts it still sucks. This season's focus is Kristin's dramatic life, and her friends Alex and Jessica (Dieter's ex) joining in on the fun. There's also a new bitchy character named Taylor, which I was waiting for, since there's always a girl named Taylor at every level of school in Orange County--extra points would have gone to the show had they gotten an Ashley and a Madison, also. I'll keep you posted when I see it. Also, season one's DVD set is out, and I actually saw someone buying it. Which is news in itself. Way to capitalize, MTV, way to go.

Lauren Graham was robbed yet again! [Jul. 14th, 2005|11:21 am]
[Tags|, , , ]
[Current Mood | lazy]
[Current Music |sufjan]

Well hello out there, LJ land. I know I have been very bad. I haven't updated in a really, really long time, but I'm here to tell you that I'm going to try my darndest to get up some updates in the near future. Starting this weekend, I'll be free, as I have a very VERY huge final exam tomorrow, then I'll be off to Las Vegas to spend some time with my family, where I will have lots of time to update. Unfortunately, I won't be going home to OC, so that'll be really sad--but that won't stop me from talking about the goings on there (like the OC fair which is going on right now!).

I have a load of appearance pictures to update, casting news/spoilers, and the Adam Brody interview in Interview Magazine (with Rachel McAdams on the cover yay!), which is actually pretty good, plus some Big Japan (Adam's band) songs, if anyone is interested.

Since I've been gone, Mischa finished filming the Decameron in Italy (and also officially split from Brandon Davis), Rachel finished The Last Kiss in Canada, and I'm assuming Adam and Ben finished In the Land of Women and Pacific Air 121, respectively. Mr. and Mrs. Smith was released, and I saw it--Adam had a small role that couldn't have made him seem more type cast at all. It was a good movie for what it is. The OC has started production again, Big Japan released their cd: Music for Dummies (which I've heard, and while it is not my cup of tea, it's pretty decent for a self-indulgent actor's side project :) I also became an aunt, see my personal LJ for a picture, saw Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and read the new Chuck Klosterman book, which is all personal info, but I thought I'd throw it in anyway.

Also some other news: Chris Carmack is going to be in a new series called Beach Girls. Samaire, LIndsay Lohan, and his movie "Just My Luck" will be out this fall. Samaire is filming another movie called "Stay Alive" in which she plays a character named Abigail. Bret Harrison, Adam's bandmate and 2 time guest on the OC, will also be appearing in "In the Land of Women" which leads me to believe that Adam is as attached to Bret as he is to that blue plaid shirt. He will also be in a series this fall called "The Loop," also on Fox.

And in what is quite possibly the worst rumored casting ever: Olivia Wilde has been announced as the star of Gossip Girl, which would normally be great, since I love those trashy books more than anything, but she's playing Blair Waldorf. Pixie cutted, neurotic, psycho-bitch brunette Blair. Hopefully this is a snafu on imdb's part, and hopefully she is actually playing the role of Serena, whom she would be perfect for. EDIT Actually imdb removed the Gossip Girl page, so maybe it was a wrong on their part for reporting this. And I actually also think that the whole project has been scrapped since there have been problems with the screenplay (as in they don't have one) et al. I still think La Lohan should dye her hair back and play Blair. And I still think this movie should be made.

Important Dates: August 23, 2005 Season 2 is released on DVD. It will be a 7 DVD set this time, with a lot of extras, as per usual.
September 8, 2005--The OC Season 3 begins. This year, we don't have to wait for the World Series to end, the show will begin the fall season on schedule. Following the OC will be a show called Reunion, which stars OC alum Amanda Righetti.

EDIT Oh dear god. I just saw an ad for Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County Season 2, and it looks just as terrible as season one. Why do you hurt us so MTV? Oy. However, I will say that I think the girls are cuter and more representative of OC Mean Girl quality that we've come to endear. There are also some new guy hotties (please let one of them be smart, oh who am I kidding). OH I still despise Kristen (LC for life, y'all) because she is continually causing trouble and because she walks around like she owns the place (yeah, I heard about the Laker game, K). Needless to say, I. Cannot. Wait.

That's all I have for now--I'm going to try to get the tract listing for the OC Mix CD 5 up sometime if I can find it--I know there's a torrent floating around out there that claims itself as such, and I will update with more later.

Oh, and Lauren Graham of Gilmore Girls was robbed of an Emmy Nomination once again. I thought for sure this year she'd have a better chance, but no, all those Desperate Housewhores got noms instead. That's okay, I still love Lorelai. But congrats to Zach Braff for getting nominated for the first time for Scrubs. And of course no noms for The OC, but again, expected. You can still vote for the OC in the teen choice awards though, I think. Well, anywho, have a great day!

Catch Adam in Mr. and Mrs. Smith, opening today!
---

So last night, the MTV Movie Awards aired. Because I have a lot of time on my hands (not really, but I'm great at wasting time when I have things to do), I sort of blogged it. Just so you know, before we get involved in anything serious here, I'm not the biggest fan of Napoleon Dynamite, especially Haylie Duff and her connection with the movie. Also, after re-reading what I've written, I think I've developed a girl crush on Rachel McAdams, going so far as to nickname her. That story is developing...that said, enjoy the recap. And if you missed the award show, no fear, I'm sure it'll be on about 1087987827308439 more times before the year is over.

2005 MTV Movie Awards, hosted by Jimmy Fallon )

Massive OC appearance update, and yes a lot of these pictures are very old--they've been sitting on my external hard drive for like a month, but I've had no time to update--so I'm sorry. There's paparazzi shots of Adam and Rachel, Adam at the Mr. and Mrs. Smith Premiere, Mischa and Ben at Cannes, MIscha's Maxim Hot #100 picture, Peter, Melinda and Kelly at the Fox Upfronts, Kelly at a Candian thing, Melinda getting free stuff, and Peter at a golf event.

Massive Picture Update as promised )
---
Adam's band, Big Japan, has a cd entitled "Music for Dummies" coming out soon (I have the official date somewhere, but I'm too lazy to find it. They are playing next month at the Troubadour in LA, July 6th to be exact.
---
The OC is up for several awards in the Teen Choice Awards including Choice TV Drama, Choice TV Actor (Ben and Adam both), Choice TV Actress (Mischa and Rachel both), Choice Hottie (Adam), Choice Hottie Female (Rachel). The Award show is August 16, 2005 on Fox. You can vote here: TeenPeople.com

[Current Music |brendan benson]

Okay, so I know I promised that I would have a big recap of the finale. I lied. You shouldn't have really expected too much from me, I am from the OC after all. By the time I was ready to write something about it, I had forgotten most of what happened. However, under the cut is what I remember...sorry it's late. But better late than never...just ask Kirsten. She can't even apologize to Caleb now.

We didn't get to say goodbye... )

They will be showing 2 hour blocks of the OC every Thursday, so you can relive the magic of Season 2 (especially that Mall Episode, that was grrreat!). So, if you missed any this season, I think they are going to be showing episodes 5 and 6 this week.

music from the season finale "The Dearly Beloved"
El Manana by Gorillaz
Crosses by Jose Gonzalez
Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap
You're Not The Law by The Dead 60's
An Honest Mistake by The Bravery (it was only time until they played The Bravery)
Hot Ride by The Prodigy
Friends by Ryan Adams & The Cardinals
Twenty Two Fourteen by The Album Leaf

and how about that Gilmore Girls finale too? Very shocking and emotional. Thoughts?

Speaking of Alexis Bledel, if I don't leave now, I'm going to miss my screening of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, in theaters now. Cannot. Wait.

I may blog the MTV movie awards this week, if I feel so inclined. I will try to make a huge picture update of the pictures I've amassed on my comp sometime soon also. UNtil then, have a great summer.

Hello all--
I can't really put all of my comments down as I am moving into my first apt ever this weekend. I know, it's very exciting. I will be without internet for the next few days, but I promise, after May 23 (I go home to OC) I will recap the finale, and it should be a doozy. Here are some thoughts on last night's ep:

Oh say can you O Sea? )

---
And sadly, STAR magazine is reporting that Mischa and oily heir Brandon Davis have split. I have no further comment on this, and neither do her reps.
---
Rachel has been named #6 on Maxim's Hot 100. Mischa was #33. You go girls.
--
Watch out for the cast on various talk shows, maybe? The season finale is next week, they better start pimping and whoring themselves out.
--
AND holy crap, Arrested Development coming back for 1+ seasons? It's like Christmas right now! If this is some kind of sick joke... well then, you got me. Please bring back Tobias.

Yes, I hate myself more than you do for putting that as the subject.

The OC 2 hour cinco de mayo extravaganza was both spectacular and frustrating like a mofo. But, I just want to write, for everyone to see, that my friend Brandon called most of the events of last night's episodes. He hadn't seen them before, but he predicted exact details. We've infiltrated your head, Josh Schwartz. Either that or he has bugged us and is listening to us talk about things--because one of the details last night was just too coincidental for my liking. Big brother is watching.

Holy Jesus, Bob Jones University! Literally. )

Next time on the OC: The O Sea. Lamest title ever!
Sandy and Caleb confront Kirsten about her behavior. Kirsten's DUI-related accident forces Sandy to take desperate measures; Ryan, looking for the truth about Trey and Marissa is clued in by a familar face. Meanwhile, Summer won't let her love triangle with Zach and Seth get in the way of her attending the prom, and Julie and Caleb toast to their final evening together as husband and wife. Seth and Zach try to decide which of them takes Summer to the prom while the other takes a meeting with their graphic novel's out-of-this-world fan; and Julie's last night with Caleb proves to be her most memorable.

Music from last night's OCs
The Return of the Nana:
Eye Of The Tiger--Survivor
Shadowland--Youth Group
Miami--Will Smith
I Turn My Camera On--Spoon (Love this song!)
Step Aside--Efterklang
Adios--Alan Paul
Kids With Guns--Gorillaz
Bring Em Out--T.I.
Get Down--Cham Pain
Questa o Quella--Rigoletto
Night Groove--Marc Durst Trio
Love Underground--Robbers On High Street
Na Na Na Na Naa--Kaiser Chiefs (good song)

The Showdown:
But Then Again No--Shout Out Louds
Hey Scenesters!--The Cribs
The Party's Crashing Us--Of Montreal
Cage That Tiger--Soledad Brothers
The Big Fight--Stars (another good song)
Freight Elevator--The Rogers Sisters
Twenty Two Fourteen--The Album Leaf (they must LOVE album leaf, this is like the third time they've been used on the show)

Alex Patsavas LIner Notes #12 )

That's it until next week--take a rest, recover from the OC heartbreak that was forced upon us last night.

Feliz Cinco De Mayo! [May. 5th, 2005|12:03 pm]
[Current Mood |achy]
[Current Music |louis XIV]

Tonight us viewers in the US get 2 hours of the OC. 2 hours. I can hardly handle the stress that comes with one hour of The OC, nevertheless two. At 8/7 C, we have the "Return of the Nana" in which Sandy, Seth and Ryan head to Miami to visit the Nana and T.I. performs his hit single “Bring Em Out.” Trey has an event to celebrate and he and Marissa plan to party that night. Bad news bears, you know something is going to happen between those two. Speaking of which, Kirsten is left at home with Carter. Seth will make an ass of himself, which is no different than usual, but this time it'll be on national television. Guest stars: Linda Lavin as the Nana, Jaime King, Bret Harrison, Logan Marshall-Green, and Billy Campbell.

Then at 9/8C, we've got "The Showdown" in which Sandy confronts Kirsten about her drinking and Seth's comic book has a launch party where Summer finds herself the center of attention. Ryan starts to suspect that something has happened between Trey and Marissa. Julie gets a shake up at home. There may also be a special guest star tonight who happens to be a huge director with an upcoming movie coming out, but this has not been confirmed yet. Then after this week, only 2 episodes left in the season.

The cast is off busy makihg movies and such. Adam is in Victoria BC filming "In The Land of Women" with Meg Ryan and Rachel is in Montreal filming "THe Last Kiss" with Zach Braff and Jacinda Barrett. I believe Ben will also be in Vancouver filming "Pacific Air 101." Mischa is in Italy filming "The Decameron" with Hayden Christenson and Tim Roth. There's a picture of her in costume (all costumes for the movie were designed by Roberto Cavalli) under the cut, along with some appearance pictures of Shannon Lucio, Olivia Wilde, and Nicholas Gonzalez.

Appearance pictures )

Remember, Adam Brody as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's love child (?) in Mr. and Mrs. Smith comes out June 10.

And for a personal note, "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" release date has been moved up even further to June 1, which is a Wednesday. Which means less than a month until it comes out!

Happy 2 hour OC watching tonight for those in the US.

Tomorrow on the Return of the Nana, keep an eye out for my favorite, and yours, Bret Harrison, who will be playing a VJ on the MTV like network on which Seth will be on (with Jaime King). The OC Confidential featuring Death Cab for Cutie for all of 2 seconds. [Apr. 22nd, 2005|06:08 pm]
[Current Mood | lazy]
[Current Music |XTC--then she appeared]

Last night's episode was hardly anything to brag about. It was actually pretty frustrating, mostly due to the lack of resolution/plot advancement, but more so because our local fox station cut out during a scene to give updates on a storm that had already passed.

The OC Confidential like LA confidential except without Guy Pearce and a good storyline )

Music from last night's episode:
Sound Makes A Circle--Audible
House On Fire--Arkarna (They totally did the theme song for the Mary-Kate and Ashley show, So Little Time, Don't ask me how I know because I'll tell you that my cousin made me watch the show, while I actually did myself. I'm not proud.)
Title And Registration--Death Cab For Cutie
Movie Script Ending--Death Cab For Cutie
Sound Of Settling--Death Cab For Cutie
How Does It Feel--The Koreans
Tres Cosas--Juana Molina
Trust Me--Temper Temper
E Talking--Soulwax
Superluminal--Home Video
Positive Tension--Bloc Party

And if you haven't seen them yet, there are some pictures taken by DCFC's Chris Walla of their appearance on the OC at deathcabforcutie.com under photos and The OC.
---

And for some casting news on the show look under the cut--do not read if you don't want to be spoiled. And I'm just saying, you probably don't.
Casting )
---

Ben McKenzie's got himself a new movie role:
He is teaming up with Samuel L. Jackson in the thriller "Pacific Air 121." The film, directed by David Ellis ("Cellular," "Final Destination 2"), centers on an FBI agent (Jackson) who is in pursuit of a mob boss. On board a flight over the Pacific Ocean, the mob boss, bent on killing a passenger in protective custody, lets loose a crate full of deadly snakes. McKenzie will play the rookie pilot of the doomed flight. "Pacific Air 121" will begin shooting on June 13 in Vancouver.

When I got to the snakes part, I started laughing. I'm sorry--crate of deadly snakes? I thought that was like a joke. But Sam Jackson wouldn't pick a bad script--because he's a bad ass motha-shut-yo-mouth. I'm sorry, I had to do it. I couldn't resist.

Next time on THE OC: The Return of the Nana
April 28th, in this episode Sandy, Seth and Ryan head to Miami to visit the Nana on spring break. Trey and Marissa hang out and party in Newport and T.I. performs his hit single “Bring Em Out.” Okay, who else thinks there are several things wrong with this picture.
1. Kirsten is left alone with Carter.
2. Marissa is left alone with Trey (Jess is probably lurking around in his closet somewhere, too).
3. Seth, Sandy, and Ryan go to Miami alone with any supervision.
4. T.I.? Wow.
5. Julie Cooper is not mentioned in this blurb.

I guess we'll have to wait and see, next week--The Return of the Nana. They should have called it "The Revenge of the Nana" and made some more Star Wars tie ins.

This is the new year where we black out the friction and laugh indoors at the tiny vessels... [Apr. 19th, 2005|12:10 am]

[Current Music |poster girl--backstreet boys!]

This is a pretty out of the ordinary post for me, since I have been only posting 1-2 times a week lately, and usually on the days flanking Thursday, but I felt that what I have to post is pretty darn worth it.

Death Cab is going to be performing at the baitshop this week...you knew that already, I left some not so subtle (or maybe they were) hints a few weeks ago. However, what you may not know is that the lovely Chris Walla took some pictures while the band was filming their episode and those pictures can be found here at deathcabforcutie.com. <--follow that link, go to photos and see some very charming/cute pictures of Adam Brody fidlding around on the drums. There are only three pictures of him, and the rest of the pictures of the band, but the website has been revamped, so look around, have a good time.

That's all I really had to say, so enjoy the pictures. The OC Confidential with special guests Death Cab for Cutie (where are they going to fit this in, between Trey getting sent back to Chino Jail and Kirsten and Carter making babies?) airs on Thursday.

Mischa is on the cover of this month's Glamour magazine--and she looks so cute on the cover:

An interesting anecdote: Mischa's younger sister, Hania, wants to be a rockstar? Apparently Hania is into hardcore rawk, and she loves Dylan, the Stones etc. I say good luck to her, so she doesn't become the next Haylie Duff.

Only 48 days until "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" comes out!

The Rager: tonight 8/7 C [Apr. 14th, 2005|06:21 pm]
[Current Mood |sick and tired of studying]
[Current Music |brendan benson]

Okay, here's the deal. Do not, and I mean this, do not tell me what happens on tonight's episode. I have an extremely ginormously huge exam tomorrow consisting of questions on anatomy, histology, biochemistry, physiology, et al. You get the point, it's important and dificil.

Thus, I cannot watch tonight's episode tonight. I will watch it tomorrow, after I am finished getting the spirit beat out of me by said exam. But there is an upside to this, for after this exam, I will probably be able to write up a review sometime this weekend, and hopefully make it funny (although, I probably will be basing it around the Aerosmith song, Janie's Got a Gun--substituting "Julie" for "Janie," so it won't be that funny in actuality), since I have three whole days (count em') to myself when I don't have to worry about bowel movements, liver abscesses, esophageal varices and the ilk. YAY.

That said, tonight's episode: The Rager + comments by yours truly.
Ryan's brother Trey is turning 21 and Marissa wants to throw a party for him and tries to convince Ryan to help out. So, Marissa is busy being a social chair for Trey, but not Harbor High School where she actually holds that title. The Trojan Horse does not count. Zach and Seth meet up with a 23-year-old woman named Reed to discuss their comic. Nothing good can come of a girl named Reed, let me tell you. Seth seems to like Reed a lot but he has a girlfriend, so Reed is offlimits. See, she's a hussy! Julie receives a package that doesn't please her at all. Well, she should stop ordering her adult toys from shady internet sites then. Sandy and Carter become friends, Sandy teaches Carter how to surf. Hmm, I see a subplot filled with homoeroticism, but not between Sandy and Carter directly, just between Carter's very orangey skin and Sandy's eyebrows--they're always stealin' the show. Meanwhile Trey's party gets way out of hand. Julie corners her blast from the past with a gun. "Julie's got a gun..." it works on many levels.

Happy OC viewing.

if you like pina coladas...and gettin' caught in the rain [Apr. 4th, 2005|07:43 pm]
[Current Mood |achy breaky]
[Current Music |filthy/gorgeous--scissor sisters]

We'll start off with some comical Adam news: his ex-girlfriend, Erin McKinley, has done, "It's your girlfriend," a short interview/blurb about putting embarrassing boyfriends to shame for FHM online. She's also pretty much naked in her picture. It's a pretty skeezy thing to do, in my opinion. I can only hope that one day when I become famous, people I dated won't crawl out of the woodwork--but I know they won't because I took care of them. Muaahhahaha.

Composure, okay. Here's the link: Erin spills the beans

Adam presented "Favorite Movie Actress" at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards with Amber Tamblyn this past Saturday:

Speaking of Amber Tamblyn, she's in the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants movie (which I am SOOO excited for) with Alexis Bledel (and Mike Vogel, who was Adam's costar in Grind). Here is a pictures of Alexis at the Kids Choice show:

And as you know, Alexis Bledel is on Gilmore Girls. This week, Gilmore Girls is on a few different covers of TV Guide. And guess who has a caption on the cover as well? That's right--Mr. Adam Brody. See how I connected everything together there? No? Okay, at least I tried.

Well, there is apparently an OC "Comic Book" in that TV Guide (with Gilmore Girls on the cover, Luke and Lorelai and another with Logan and Rory). I'll try to get those scans from somewhere, but if not, I'm sure they'll be on the internet soon enough.

more pictures of Adam at the Kids Choice, Samaire, Olivia, and big one of Alexis )

I watched some of that Kids Choice on Sat (it was a good study break) and here were some thoughts Amy blogs the Kids Choice, and the choice sucked most of the time, sorry kids )

New Episode this week, The Risky Business. I hope more Bob Seger is played. And I really hope Seth comes rolling out in a white shirt and boxers. That would be so hot.

Thanks for all of the comments in the last post--I really appreciated it and I feel I got to know some of you a little bit better. In the same vain, here are a few more random facts--I'll put them under a cut if you don't want to read them:

feel free to share any more if you'd like. )

EDIT: The OC Mix 4 Soundtrack comes out today. How did I ever forget about this? I live to pimp this kind of stuff. I'm losing my edge, I'm getting old.

I really was surprised at the volume of people who replied to the last entry, I didn't know that many read this journal: thanks! Add me to your friends on myspace if you want: it's mighty myspace time and I'm the yellow ranger

fishing around for comments on a saturday afternoon... [Apr. 2nd, 2005|12:48 pm]
[Current Mood |bored as yit]
[Current Music |this delicate place--spoon]

I gain a lot of amusement and fodder from reading livejournals and blogs and such. I'd say that's a good amount of the time I spend online--besides searching for music/watching movie trailers. I always analyze most of the entries I read, sometimes intentionally, sometimes not. I like to be the outside observer, always have. When I was a kid/teen/now, I used to go to all of these events (weddings, fundraisers, social bullshit) with my parents and I used to watch people and try to peg them. My skill has been finely honed over the years, but that's mostly because sadly, the people who share the social scene with my parents fit into a slim category of depressed, unhappy, putting up appearances, conquered the social scene because they married up, numb, aggressive, or wannabe queens of the hierarchy. It is a miserable existence. Trust me. There is a much more diverse community online for me to work with.

Unfortunately, I don't read every single entry from every single person, frankly, I just don't have time or energy. Usually I'll comment on the ones that I do read because I always have something to say about something. And, I think it's interesting the stories people choose to tell. I am a skeptical person by nature, so when I read things I always ask myself, is this what really happened or is this a singular viewpoint. And it is usually the latter, we write how we see things, and sometimes that's just the way it goes. Especially the entries that are like, "Oh, the funniest thing happened to me today...I'm such a loser...haha"--it's very selective and motivated. And usually, you're not going to write about a mundane event that made you look like an ass unless it is trivial and you can laugh about it.

I really love it when I know someone really well, then read his/her journal and find that the "blogger" is not like that at all. People who don't know them know this persona who may be nothing like the real person. I know some people who are better illusionists than David Copperfield through their blogs. Case in point, I think I come off a little nicer/smarter (maybe not)/funnier in my journals than I am in real life. Hopefully I don't come off as a pseudo-intellectual, because I really hate that. I mean, I don't go around throwing out Vonnegut or anything. My guilty pleasure, although I feel no guilt towards it, is reading books geared towards fourteen year old girls. I don't really remember anything I've read though, so that doesn't really matter anyway.

That brings me to another point. Do we really actually get to know the real person behind a blog? From a lot of blogs, I can get the gist of a person's personality, but I don't know anything about their practical existence. I don't know the route they take to work or what brand of coffee they like to drink. We tend to write about out of the ordinary things that happen to us, not the banal details of our everyday lives. People say what they want others to read, and if they have something that might make them insecure, they put it behind a "friends only" lock. Even though I wish I knew more about practicalities, I wouldn't really read about how someone went to the post office and then went to Starbucks and then made dinner...it'd all be lost on me.

I don't really have a point after that spiel, I rarely do have one anyway, but here are some everyday facts about me that you wouldn't gather from reading my journal.
-I haven't eaten a bagel in 6 years.
-my number one pet peeve is when people use "your" for "you're." I hate that
-the city I'd most like to visit is Prague or Istanbul.
-my favorite place I've been to is Santorini, Oia, Greece.
-I will not eat cupcakes, unless I'm in a situations where if I don't take one it makes me look rude; I don't really like cake unless it's from a specific bakery in OC
-I drive a 2004 silver Honda Accord with a dent in the side from when I scraped it against a pole in our dorm parking structure.
-I love to give my two cents.
-I got rejected or wait-listed from every Ivy League school I applied to (includes Stanford).
-I am utterly impatient.
-I like to be by myself, but as a kid, I was completely dependent on others.
-I haven't ridden a bike about 10 years (the last time, I fell and skinned a good portion of my leg).
-I can cry very easily (in just about every movie--ask my guy friends about the time I saw Spiderman with them), and sometimes on cue.
-I'm pretty sure I own 40 + pairs of shoes (not including the many pairs of $3 target flip-flops)
-In my life, I've played less than 5 videogames (Halo, Tetris, Duckshoot, Super Mario Cart).
-I am the darkest (not in terms of skin tone) person in my family.
-I have seen pretty much every Mary-Kate and Ashley video/movie ever made
-I don't remember lines from movies (unless it's a huge catchphrase, like anything from Austin Powers) or plotlines of books I've read.
-For about a year, I didn't really go out on the weekends because I had SAT prep classes on Fridays and Saturdays.
-I think these facts are some of the most superficial facts about myself and they probably sound very contrived.
-this was from [info]ohnotheydidnt a few weeks ago, but the three celebrities I would sleep with are: Ryan Gosling (only when he looks scruffy/dirty), Adam Brody, and probably no third. Honorable mention goes to Topher Grace, Jude Law, Johnny Depp, Zach Braff, Hugh Grant, Ethan Hawke.

After saying all of this, I want you guys to comment. I want a reaction, and some info about the people who are reading this journal. I know you like the OC, I mean, I don't think you'd add me if you didn't--but I want to know other things besides that. You can put some random facts about yourself, or copy one of the ones I've written (the last one is a good one to start with because celebrity lists tell me a lot about a person). Please, I'm begging you, comment!
